January 2026 Newsletter - First Update for 2026 and Key Announcements

The batteries are re-charged, the kids are almost back at school and the new year brings fresh energy and plenty of excitement as we prepare to kick off the 2026 season. With a new committee in place and key dates set, there’s a lot to share to help everyone get ready.

Meet Your New Committee Members

At our Annual General Meeting late last year,, the club elected a new committee to lead us through 2026. With a mix of new and old faces,, we’re pleased to introduce the team who will be steering the club this year:

• Committee Member: Brendan Taylor

Key Season Dates to Remember

Mark your calendars with these important dates to stay on track:

• Training Starts

- Under 10s and 11s: Tuesday, 10th February

- Under 7s to 9s: Thursday, 12th February

- Under 6s: Thursday, 19th February

• Season Starts 

  - Sunday 26 April - location and times TBC

• Season Launch and Come and Try Day

- Date: Sunday 15th February

- Location: Bulimba Valleys Bulldogs, Balmoral Recreation Reserve, 140 Bulimba Street, Bulimba

- Time: 1PM - 3PM

• Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser

- Date: Sunday, 29th March

- Location: Bunnings Cannon Hill

Sponsors Needed to Support Our Community Club

Our club thrives because of community support. We rely on local sponsors to help cover costs for equipment, facilities, and events and to keep our registration fees as low as possible. We still need sponsors (no matter how big or small) for the 2026 season to ensure the club can run sustainably while keeping our fees as low as possible.

Register Now to Secure Your Spot

Registration is open for the 2026 season. It’s important that everyone registers early to secure their place on the team. Early registration also helps us plan for the year and allows us to focus recruitment on specific age groups.

If you know someone interested in playing, encourage them to register now, or otherwise bring them to our season launch date.

Did you know that most of our referrals come from word of mouth? Want to know how you can help....? If you are part of a school class chat, we'd appreciate you spreading the word about Bulimba Bulldogs. Reach out to us if you need copies of flyers or ads.

Save the Date for Season Launch and Come and Try Day

Our season launch event is a highlight for players and families. It’s a chance to meet coaches, meet your new team mates, and enjoy some fun activities. We will also be measuring up players for jersey and short sizes. We want to see all current players there, and it’s a perfect opportunity to bring a friend who might want to join. The event runs from 1PM-3PM on Sunday 15th February. Don’t miss it!

Training Days and Times

Training sessions are structured to fit different age groups:

• Under 10s and 11s

- Tuesdays and Thursdays

- 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

• Under 6s to 9s

- Thursdays only

- 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Volunteers Are Always Welcome

Our club depends on volunteers to run smoothly. Whether you can help with coaching, administration, event setup, or fundraising, your time makes a difference. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this form. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to help and be part of the team. Examples of positions we need assistance with:

• Coaches / assistants - U6s, U7s and U8s

• Team managers

• First aid officers

• Ground managers

• Fund raising assistance

• Other game day assistance

Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser – Save the Date

We have a major fundraiser coming up on Sunday, 29th March at Bunnings Cannon Hill. We need as many helpers as possible to manage the BBQ. Roles include tong masters, sauce squeezers, and money takers. This event is a fun way to support the club and meet other families. Please save the date and consider volunteering for a shift.
